CFD Weightlifting Meet

CFD will host an in house Olympic Weightlifting Meet for our athletes on Saturday, June 15th!

This meet is designed specifically for first time and newly competitive weightlifters, ie ALL OF YOU!  Singlets and weightlifting shoes are NOT required, and the competition will be held in pounds.  Everyone should sign up to compete!  It’s FREE!

The two lifts contested will be the Snatch and the Clean and Jerk.  This event is only open to CFD athletes, coaches, and special invitees.  All USAW rules will be followed, with the exception of the requirement that you wear a singlet and weightlifting shoes.  Although, you are certainly welcome to wear them, neither will be required!

A bad ass trophy to show off their lifting prowess will be awarded to our top male and top female lifter based on the Sinclair Total.  The Sinclair Total calculates through mathematical formula what each athlete’s combined Total (Snatch + Clean and Jerk) would be if he/she were an athlete in the heaviest weight class.  This means EVERYONE has a chance to do well regardless of body weight!

We will use one competition bar and platform for the event along with standard bumper plates in pounds.  Beginning with the Snatch, the weight will start at the lowest declared attempt, and move up from there until every competitor has completed their 3 attempts.  We will then move on to the Clean & Jerk.  Platforms will be set-up in the back so that competitors can stay warm between lifts.

Spectators, photographers, and cheerleaders are all welcome, and encouraged!
This meet is designed to give everyone an opportunity to challenge themselves and their fellow athletes under a more formal setting than just our everyday workouts.  Our primary goal is to have fun, push each other, and see some big PRs!  You’ll be surrounded by friends…go big!

There is NO FEE to participate.  There is NO minimum weight that you need to lift to participate.  There is NO excuse for anyone to skip this event!
