When did you first start Strength & Conditioningting?:
October 2011
What is your favorite movement? Favorite workout?
I love snatching. A goal of mine this year is to snatch my body weight
What is your least favorite movement? Least favorite workout?
I think that would have to be thrusters because no muscle can be lazy.
Tell us about your sports & fitness background:
In high school I did swimming and softball so I was pretty athletic. I did take a weightlifting class in high school but stopped squatting because my quads got big (I kick myself now). Continued to play softball and still play today about 3-4 times a week. Did a couple of triathlons and some 5ks but HATED running.
How did you first get exposed to Strength & Conditioning? Do you remember your first WOD? How did it go?
I first got exposed to Strength & Conditioning I think by word of mouth. Was not happy with the same old gym and decided to give it a try and like most Strength & Conditioningters I was hooked.
What sort of changes have you seen in your body, health and fitness since starting Strength & Conditioning? (before/after)
I have a new outlook on what is healthy and fit. I am not afraid if getting “bulky” or muscular. I am not the skinniest I have ever been but I am the strongest and healthiest I have ever been. I eat more now than I ever have because I know I have to fuel the body and I know if I eat junk I am not going to PR the next day. Fitness has been more about setting goals on all my lifts, reaching them and then creating new goals. Strength & Conditioning is still a challenge, I still get sore, and I love it!
What impact has Strength & Conditioning had on your life?
I have even seen a difference in my personal life, I sit up straight, walk taller, and have more confidence then I ever have. I even set more goals professionally and reach them. When I tell people I lift heavy weights, I love the look in their eyes, it just makes me feel good.
What is your favorite Strength & Conditioning/CFD moment?
I don’t think I have a favorite moment, I think everyday is great because whether I go to an afternoon or morning class I am always excited to see people I see everyday or just once in a while. Then we all suffer through a workout together.
What is your advice for people just getting started or thinking about starting Strength & Conditioning?
We all started Strength & Conditioning at one point and felt like an idiot doing some of the movements. We have all fallen down, missed a box jump, hit our nose on the bar, whipped our legs with a jump rope and thought I am never going to get through this workout! You will get through it, you will love it and you will be back for more!
What are your hobbies, interests, and/or talents outside of Strength & Conditioning?
I have a craft room that is a mess. I love redecorating the house, making crafts and food I find on Pinterest. Right now I am loving designing a house for Brad (my fiance), myself, and our two dogs Trigger and Codi. We also love taking the dogs on long walks where I can let them off the leash and they can run around and play. I am also trying to teach the dogs new tricks.
