The Strength & Conditioning Open is a worldwide Strength & Conditioning competition crowning the Fittest Man and Woman on Earth. We’ve done it every year at CFD and it’s lots of fun. Last year, over 145 CFD athletes tried their hand at the Open and participated in Intramurals. There are SCALED divisions, and MORE Masters divisions this year, so we expect even more.
Our goals at CFD include to educate and inspire our athletes. Competition helps with the ‘inspire’ part: the pressure to perform pushes you to train harder; the social boost of dozens of your friends cheering for you will help you reach levels of performance you didn’t believe possible. Watching your teammates GO HARD is inspiring.
This year, we will continue to bring the thrill of the CF Games to CFD. We will deliver all the fun of competition without causing any anxiety attacks.
Announcing the 2019 CFD Intramural Open!
We will be putting together 5 teams to compete against one another each week (5 weeks in total). And you’re going to be on one of them.
Team Captains will be chosen this week! Everyone can, and should, participate in what will be a fantastic, fun time and great, supportive competition.
Register for the Intramural Open at games.crossfit.com. Choose Courage Fitness Durham as your Affiliate AND Team.
Every athlete at CFD will be fair game to be recruited onto a team. This includes regular Strength & Conditioningters, Bootcampers, Oly Lifters, Women’s Strength, and Powerlifters! Expect to be courted by one of our Team Captains to join their team – probably more than one. Pick the most fun team for you!
+1 Point – Scoring: every member of a team that enters an Open workout score online each week earns one point. This goes for Rx AND Scaled competitors!
+2 Points – Thursday Night Event Announcement: each team that has a participant in the post-announcement Thursday night throwdown. 8pm each Thursday night.
+2 Points – Top 5 Scaled: every male AND female member who places among the Top 5 Overall at CFD in that week’s Scaled workout gets an extra 2 points for their team.
+3 Points – Top 5 RX: every male AND female member who places among the Top 5 Overall at CFD in that week’s RX workout gets an extra 3 points for their team.
Spirit Points (team) – Teams will have the opportunity to earn points each week with a series of small, fun challenges that will inspire teamwork and Community.
Dog Food Drive (team) – Each team will be responsible for cumulatively collecting 1,000 of dog food before March 25th to benefit The Coalition to Unchain Dogs in Durham. 10 points will be deducted from each team’s final tally for each 100lbs short of the 1,000lb goal.
In 2019, athletes competing in the Open will have four days to complete each workout. Our “official” competition days will be each Saturday during the Open from 9am – 1pm. There will be five Open workouts in total. There will also be a BONUS event running throughout the 5 weeks of competition.

19.2: March 2nd
19.3: March 9th

Athletes unable to attend the Saturday morning sessions may complete the week’s workout provided it is completed by the Monday deadline for submission and is witnessed by a certified Open Judge or CFD Coach.
