When did you first start Strength & Conditioningting?:
Bootcamp in January 2013, WOD in August 2014
What is your favorite movement? Favorite workout?
Pullups. My favorite work out is “Murph”.
What is your least favorite movement? Least favorite workout?
Front squats kill me, I don’t have a least favorite WOD…yet.
Tell us about your sports & fitness background:
I have always been an athlete. I grew up playing tennis, golf, running, volleyball, karate. I hate to admit it but I actually baton twirled competitive. Go ahead…get your laugh in now! You name it…I did it. In the last few years before starting crossfit I focused on running. I still love to run. I have run about 5 or 6 half marathons and numerous shorter races, but never had a desire to run a marathon.
How did you first get exposed to Strength & Conditioning? Do you remember your first WOD? How did it go?
My husband started doing Bootcamp about a year prior to me, and I kept telling him, “you should stop doing it, you’re going to get hurt.” I secretly was jealous and wanted to start. When I started going to Bootcamp, I loved it. The cardio was great, but after I had my third child and John Hite (who had been going to the Crossfit Bootcamp at the same time for over a year) told me he was leaving Bootcamp for the WOD…I knew it was time. Starting the WODs was tough. I felt like a failure, but the encouragement from the Strength & Conditioningters was amazing. They put up with my mood swings. Now it is like family.
What sort of changes have you seen in your body, health and fitness since starting Strength & Conditioning? (before/after)
OMG…I actually learned to squat properly! All this time I thought I was getting “low enough.” I feel stronger, tighter, more confident. I am no longer afraid of a pull-up bar.
What impact has Strength & Conditioning had on your life?
It has opened my eyes to a whole new world of exercise that I never thought I could or should participate in.
What is your favorite Strength & Conditioning/CFD moment?
Every Saturday WOD!
What is your advice for people just getting started or thinking about starting Strength & Conditioning?
What you think is impossible or you can’t do is always doable. Take your time and don’t be a hero!
What are your hobbies, interests, and/or talents outside of Strength & Conditioning?
I LOVE to cook and entertain…anyone want to come over for dinner?
